What’s New: 2012 Honda Pilot

The 2012 Pilot receives numerous enhancements to improve appearance, comfort and convenience, fuel economy, and safety. Here’s what’s new.

All trim levels:


Exterior appearance enhancements:
  • New front grille and headlights
  • New front bumper with aerodynamic improvements

Exterior convenience enhancement:
  • Lighter rear cargo lid

Interior appearance and convenience enhancements:
  • New instrument cluster and center control panel
  • All audio systems feature increased power
  • New 2-GB CD library (replaces 6-disc CD changer)

Noise reduction enhancements:
  • Revised rear subframe mounts
  • Enhanced body seals
  • Pillar separators added and improved
  • Added insulation

Fuel economy enhancements:
  • New lower rolling resistance tires
  • New friction reduction techniques applied to the engine
  • New variable displacement steering pump
  • New front and rear brake strakes to reduce drag

Safety enhancements:
  • Reinforced roof can withstand over four times body weight, targeted to receive “Top Safety Pick” rating from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)
  • Taller head restraints in the second and third rows to help reduce the likelihood of whiplash
2012 Pilot EPA Fuel Economy Estimates1
The 2012 Pilot’s EPA fuel economy estimates have increased by one (1) mpg in city driving and two (2) mpg in highway and combined driving for both 2WD and 4WD models.
  • 2WD models:
    18 mpg City
    25 mpg Highway
    21 mpg Combined
  • 4WD models:
    17 mpg City
    24 mpg Highway
    20 mpg Combined

Non-Navigation models:
  • New intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID) system

What’s Removed
The following items have been removed from the 2012 Pilot:
  • Front seatback pocket and rear grab handles (all trim levels)
  • Underseat storage (Touring models)

EX trim level and above:
  • New 18" alloy wheels for EX, EX-L, and Touring models
  • Power tailgate added to EX-L models
  • EX models and above include Bluetooth® Audio for wireless streaming of music
  • New 60-GB Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Navigation system with 15-GB audio memory
  • Navigation system now works in all 50 states, Canada, and Puerto Rico
  • FM Traffic included on Navigation models
  • Song by Voice® included on Navigation models
  • Touring models equipped with 650-watt audio system
  • Upgraded rearview cameras
    • EX-L models’ rearview mirror camera replaced with rearview camera on 8" WQVGA (Wide Quarter Video Graphics Array) screen
    • EX-L with Navigation and Touring models receive multi-angle rearview camera on 8 " high resolution WVGA (Wide Video Graphics Array) screen
    • All rearview cameras feature guidelines
