Today, the annual Davenport Autopark blood drive donated 20 pints of bloods for local blood banks.

Davenport Autopark thanks all those who participated in this annual community event.

Just a reminder that Davenport Autopark is sponsoring a community Blood Drive this Thursday, December 23, 2010 from 8:30am to 12:30pm.

All Donors will recieve a FREE car wash from Davenport Autopark and a "Cooking for Heroes" Red Cross Cookbook from the American Red Cross.

We hope to see you this Thursday!

Toys for Tots

Davenport Honda thanks all those who generously contrinuted to this years Toys for Tots campaign.

The toys have been picked up and will be distributed to local children in need.

Davenport Raised $5,049 for United Way!

Davenport Autopark exceeded its goal in support of local United Way Charities!

Davenport Autopark set a goal to raise $5,000 by December 10, 2010. This fund raising effort was a combination of pledges from Davenport employees paid through payroll deductions and a raffle that employees, customers, and community members could participate in.

Davenport raised $5,049 and held its drawing at 3:00pm today, December 10, 2010. “We had 100% employee participation”, said Neill Nelson, General Manager of Davenport Autopark.

Davenport Autopark would like to thank and recognize the local merchants who donated prizes for the drawing. These merchants are; Hair, Heart, and Soul * Loves Gentlemen Clothiers * Westridge Grill * Office Depot * Osbourne Jewlers * Baileys * Levys *

Drawing winners are; Angelo Phillips, Jennifer Walker, Elizabeth Rose, Mark Carter, Wes Jeffries, Jimmy Burgess, and Mary Kitchin.

The Old Downtown Dealership

Since our beginning on the corner of Washington and Hill streets in March 1929, when Pepsi and candy bars sold for a nickel each, Davenport Autopark has been a family owned and operated business dedicated to exceptional service and outstanding community involvement. Founded by the late David Davenport selling Pontiac and Oakland vehicles, he quickly grew the business into one of the country’s most recognized dealerships.

In the early years, Davenport operated on a 24-hour schedule. As stated: “Davenport Motor Co. In the heart of the city. Open all night. Call 286 for service.” Our dedication to serving our customers has been our trademark to this day. The Cadillac name was added to their line of vehicles in 1935 and Honda came on board in 1974. You could get a Honda then for $2,500-$2,800. Isuzu was added in 1991, but for only 7 years, because in 1998 Cadillac and Isuzu were exchanged for GMC and Buick. The line-up was completed as it remains today: Honda, GMC and Buick.

The Jammin 99.3 FM morning show “The Spotlight”, hosted by DP, is broadcast from the Honda dealership right here at Davenport Autopark every Friday morning from 6am to 9am.

The Spotlight is a morning show that focuses on issues that are important to, and impact the residents of, Rocky Mount North Carolina.

Drop by around 8am for breakfast provided at no cost by the Highway Diner. We’d enjoy the fellowship of our local residents during this weekly community event.

The 2010 - 2011 Teacher of the Year

Suzanne Weaver, music teacher at Red Oak Elementary School and Swift Creek Elementary School and the 2010-2011 Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools Teacher of the Year left the annual celebration with keys to a brand new Honda Insight Hybrid presented by Neill Nelson of Davenport Autopark.

This is the fourth year that Davenport Autopark has donated an automobile for the Teacher of the Year to use for the entire school year.

"Davenport Honda believes in supporting education and our dedicated educators in the Nash-Rocky Mount area. We truly appreciate teachers and the incredible job they do for our children and our community," Nelson said. "Personally, we had two children who received outstanding educations at Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools and this is a way of giving back. The Teacher and Principal of the Year Celebration is always a highlight of the year. Meeting all the teachers and seeing the excitement on the faces of the best of the best in truly an inspiring experience."
